Originally made only of wood, hand-carved later were also painted and even covered with gold. Today they are manufactured on an industrial scale, in companies mechanically equipped for their production. The main raw material is still wood, but they are also made from expanded polystyrene derivatives, plaster, aluminum, plastics and derivatives. The most common when making the frame is: benefit from reforested woods preferably drying, machining and finishing the frame. Finishing uses various processes and raw materials, which can be made according to the manufacturer's purpose and interest. Recently a new process has greatly simplified the finishing, coating, which consists of the machined profile in the desired shape being covered with wood veneers, melamine papers, fabrics, leather, PET, PVC or the like. This process makes the frame much more economically viable and does not use environmentally aggressive agents such as paints, solvents and plaster.
