Hydraulic or Pneumatic System, which one to choose?

HYDRAULIC SYSTEM

A system capable of generating force and / or mechanical movement by means of the pressurizing of some type of fluid, such as an oil, for example.

They are systems that are relatively easy to install, being able to generate large amounts of force and perform precise movements, which is why it has been increasingly sought after by companies of different types of segments. By using fluids, however, they are subject to leaks, having, therefore, high maintenance cost.

This type of system is usually used in situations requiring a large amount of force and / or support of large loads, such as in the articulation of a tractor's arm, which must be able to move large quantities of material, or in the elevators used in mechanical workshops, which need to be able to lift the cars so that mechanics can work on them.

PNEUMATIC SYSTEM

The pneumatic system uses a gaseous fluid, such as compressed air and nitrogen.

In the case of the pneumatic system, besides the compressor, there is another essential part: the air filter. In fact, air, especially the tablet, can have many impurities, making a filter necessary to prevent such impurities from damaging the system and shortening its life.

It is also worth noting that the pneumatic system is capable of generating smaller amounts of force and / or movement than the hydraulic one. This, however, does not make the pneumatic system worse than the hydraulic one. On the contrary. Precisely for generating lower pressure levels, this type of system is usually made of lighter and more delicate material, making it smaller and more practical, being ideal for tasks like automation, for example - it is widely used in assembly lines to position and remove objects at the correct time, for example in a wood sawing system, by placing new boards on a mat so that they are cut.

Apart from this, because it is an air-based system, it is much simpler, with the discharge of its fluid can be done directly into the atmosphere, when necessary, something that does not occur with the hydraulic, which needs to have its fluid discarded in a suitable container.

WHICH SYSTEM IS BETTER?

Each of these systems has certain peculiarities that make them unique, being difficult to list which is better, with the degree of applicability of each of them varying according to the occasion. There are cases in which the hydraulic system is the most recommended and others in which the tire is the best choice.
